Train in China

I am currently in the process of developing a guidebook for training in China.  This will be a limited edition product that I will be selling here on wushuzilla.com for those people who are interested in training in China.

Yang Yu Hong Says Hi!

From my experiences in China I have noticed that there is an extreme lack of materials to help people outside of China make any sort of educated decision about where in China they might be able to train.  Especially for those of us who can’t read or understand Chinese.

Most importantly, it is almost impossible to find the correct contact information, addresses, and other relevant data for the multitudes of Sports Schools, Sport Universities and private schools where you can train in wushu.

As a result I have begun work on a guidebook to help resolve this problem.  It will be the first and only comprehensive list of wushu training facilities in China for foreigners.  I have started the process of researching and investigating all of the training options for foreigners and putting it in to one comprehensive guidebook.  I am planning for it to include the following materials:

  • A list of all facilities where you can train in wushu in China including …
    • Sport Universities (Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi’an, Guangzhou, etc.)
    • Sport Schools (Shi Cha Hai, Shaanxi Sports School, Shandong Provincial Wushu School, etc.)
    • Private Wushu Schools (Yu Hai’s Academy in Shandong, Zhao Chang Jun’s school in Xi’an, etc.)
  • A booklet including do’s and don’ts for foreigners who are training in China
  • Relevant wushu-related phrasebook
  • Interviews with top athletes expressing their thoughts on how foreigners can make the most of their time in China
  • Visa information
  • Approximate cost structure for training in China and what it includes
  • Helpful tips on negotiating your stay in China and how best to communicate with the facilities
  • A guide to daily life in China as a foreigner
  • An overview on applying for and attending schools/universities in China
  • All contact information will be in Chinese, Pin Yin and English.
  • And much more …

The truth is, I’m not sure of the demand for a product like this, so I’m setting up an initial limited-edition run of the guidebooks.  There will only be a few available to start so if you are interested in being on the waiting list to purchase a China Training guidebook, please fill out the form below with the requested information.

There will be quite a bit of time and energy put into this endeavor so please only submit your name and information if you are serious about getting these materials.  Please fill out the contact form below and include the following information (incomplete submissions will not qualify):

Name, E-mail, Age, Gender, Country of Residence, Years Training in Wushu, and a Quick Summary of any China training experience you might have (not required to qualify for a copy, but I’m just curious about this).

I will be sending confirmation e-mails out in the middle of April 2010 for those that qualify to receive a guidebook. My hope is to have the guidebooks done by the beginning of summer.  I realize this doesn’t help those of you who are hoping to come to China in the summer, but it will hoepfully be of great help to you for any future plans you might have to make it to China.  And if we are lucky, I might be able to get it finished much sooner.

If it turns out there is a high enough demand for this guidebook I might increase the available number, but at this point that remains to be seen.

Thanks again!

- Mark
